ドイツの新進実験映画作家デュオ日本初個展

ドイツより、デュオで活動するミリアム・ゴッシングとリナ・ジークマンが来日、オーバーハウゼン国際短編映画で受賞した実験的なドキュメンタリー『オーシャン・ヒル・ドライブ』、新作ミュージックビデオ『チャイナ・ライト』など4作品を上映する。上映後にティーチ・インを開催。

ベルギッシェス・ラントにある個人邸宅の日曜日。特徴のない戸建住宅に囲まれて、夜明けの太陽で照らされた黄色いファサードの邸宅が丘の上に鎮座している。邸宅の内部には審美的な生活空間が広がっていて、そこではエキゾチックな個人の空想の風景の中で日常生活が演じられている。家事のオートメーションが居住者のルーティーンと並行して進行し、その場所に独自の生活を与えるのだ。

A private house in the Bergisches Land on Sunday. Surrounded by unremarkable single-family homes, the sunlit estate with its yellow facade sits enthroned on the hill at dawn. The inside oft he house reveals an aesthetic living environment, where everyday life is staged within an exotic scenery of individual fantasies. Domestic automation happens parallel to the residents' daily routine and grants the place a life of its own.


オーシャン・ヒル・ドライブ／OCEAN HILL DRIVE

オーシャン・ヒル・ドライブでは、ボストン郊外のある地域で生じる特殊な現象、いわゆる「シャドウ・フリッカー」を考察する。間違って建てられた風車の影響により、フリッカー効果、—それは構造映画を思い起こさせる—が出現するのだが、映画ではマサチューセッツ州沿岸の町の建築とランドスケープを捉えたドキュメンタリー映像の中にフリッカーが現れる。この映画は、郊外集落に忍び寄り、コミュニティーの社会的・心理的安全を破壊する、チラチラする影の映像的質感に焦点を当てている。映像に重ねられた女性の音声は、多数のインタビューを引用・組替し1本のナレーションにしたもので、フリッカーが発生し始めた頃からの断片的な記憶が徐々に明らかになっていく。映画全体に緊張感と得体の知れない恐怖が充満するが、ちらつきの発生源は不明のままだ。

Ocean Hill Drive examines a rare phenomenon, the so-called "shadowflicker", that occurs in a suburban area on the outskirts of Boston. As a result of an erroneously installed wind turbine, the flicker effect, which brings to mind structuralist experimental cinema , appears instead in documentary images showing the landscape and architecture of a Massachusetts coast town. The film focuses on the visual quality of the pulsating shadows that intrude the suburban domestic sphere and disrupt the social and psychological equilibrium of the community. Documentary images are complemented with a female voiceover, which is based on multiple interviews that were transcripted and assembled into a single narration. It slowly uncovers fragmentary memories from the time when the flicker began. An atmosphere of suspense and intangible fear is generated throughout the film, while the actual source of the flickering lights remains unknown.


チャイナ・ライト／CHINA LIGHT

ミュージックビデオ 「チャイナ・ライト」は、ゴッシング＆ジークマンと編集・VFXアーティストのニコール・ウェグナー、そして北京出身のノイズ・ミュージシャンのGUANとの共同プロジェクト。ドイツのケルン動物園で行われている伝統的な中国のひかり祭りの再演を16mmフィルムで撮影した映像は、中国文化に対するエキゾチックな西洋の視点の表層とイメージを捉え、ヴィヴィットなトリップに没入する。映画はブレながら知覚の錯乱状態に移行し、色調と形態の異様なエクスタシーに変貌する審美的な原野が現れる。動物の幽霊、命を与えられた生命体、そして人工植物が発生し、アンビエントで別世界的なGUANのサウンドに重なる。

The music video "China Light" is a cooperative project between artist duo Gossing/Sieckmann, editor and VFX artist Nicole Wegner, and the noise musician GUAN from Beijing, China. Filmed on 16mm film at a re-staging of a traditional chinese light festivals that takes place in the Zoological Gardens of Cologne, Germany, the video takes images and surfaces of an exoticised western view on chinese culture and merges them into a vivid trip. Blurring and shifting into a frenzy state of perception, the film presents an aestheticized wilderness turning into an uncanny ecstasy of colors and shapes. Ghosts of animals, animated lifeforms and artificial plants arise and drone to the ambient and otherworldly sounds of GUAN.

ミリアム・ゴッシング＆リナ・ジークマン
Miriam Gossing & Lina Sieckmann

共に1988年ドイツ生まれ。マティアス・ミュラー、フィル・コリンズ、ソフィー・マンティニューが教鞭をとるケルン・メディア芸術大学で、実験映画、パフォーマンス、写真を学ぶ。二人組のアーティストとして、ドキュメンタリーやフィクション、ファウンド・フッテージを組み合わせた、16ミリによる実験的なドキュメンタリー作品を発表しており、オーバーハウゼン国際短編映画祭、ロッテルダム国際映画祭など上映、展示多数。

From 2009-2015, Miriam Gossing and Lina Sieckmann have studied experimental film, performance and photography at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne with Matthias Müller, Phil Collins and Sophie Maintigneux. They have produced several experimental documentary films on 16mm film, investigating urban and private architectures, hyper staged sceneries and surfaces of desire. In their montage they are combining documentary images with fictional and found footage elements. Their works have been shown internationally on film festivals and exhibitions (e.g. International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, Roxie Theatre San Francisco - USA, Goethe - Institut Toulouse - FRA, European Media Arts Festival Osnabrück, WNDX Festival of Moving Image ,Canada). They live and work in Cologne, Germany.
